"I am aware of my 3rd great grandfather's grave stone in a grave yard
that is currently in a lawn area. Jacob died in 1790 and is buried on
the farm land that he owned at the time. It is believed that Jacob was
given a Lieutenant Commission in the Revolutionary War.
The grave stone and foot stone are the only markers left at this
time. A former property owner, Donald Rigg, told me in 1978 that
there had been more graves there but they had been trod down by farm animals
over the years.
I do not know the name of the present property owner but the grave
is located near what was once known as the Swinging Bridge over Back Creek
in Berkeley County West Va. It is located a few miles west of
Martinsburg. It is listed in the Berkeley County Cemetery Book
published by the Berkeley County Historical Society."
