Located
above the Right Fork of Clendenin Creek of Eighteen Mile Creek in
Union District of Putnam Co., past the last house above the forks of
the creek up on a steep hill. Last known to be a jeep trail at
best. Best route to get there is to follow Rt. 34 to Emma
Chapel. The Clendenin Creek road is the second one past
the church going in the direction of Kenna, turning off Rt. 34 on
the same side of the road as Emma Chapel (this road is paved all the
way to the forks of the Clendenin, so if you get onto a gravel road,
you've taken the wrong one!).
This road soon forks into 23/4, (Putnam Co. # 11/8 to the right,
which leads you down to the Eighteen Mile Creek valley) and into
23/5 (Putnam Co.# 16/1 to the left, which will take you down
Clendenin Fork). Take the Clendenin Fork road on the
left. After about 2.4 miles, you'll come to the fork of the
Clendenin, and another fork in the road. Take the gravel road
that follows the Right Fork of the Clendenin up to your left.
The cemetery will be on your left up on the hill.

Comments:
The information for this cemetery has been
provided by our dear friend and close cousin, Reta Harrison, Clendenin family
researcher and descendant of William & Fanny Clendenin. She and Dwight
Garnes read this cemetery in 1992. Her many years of
family research, and that of her compatriot in research Elouise Harrison
(another of our Harrison cousins) have been a constant inspiration and support
to Joel and I in our own research and cemetery preservation work. Their
combined knowledge of local history and family ties is incomparable, and we
love them both dearly. Thank you Tillie & Elouise!
A plot map of this cemetery is in progress,
hence the plot map reference numbers above. For the curious, the numbers
next to each other in sequence are more or less burials alongside each other.
You can view the map in progress by clicking on the thumbnail image below.
North/South orientation yet to be determined, as the information Reta provided
is simply row by row location of the graves. Confirmation of position of all burials
will be made after we have visited and photographed this cemetery at some time
in the future.
