| Accessibility: | Located on a small hill above the present Neely farm - originally owned by the Hicks family, then later the McCulloch family. Reportedly not so easy to get to - "not a walk for the weak of heart or lungs!" If you're up to it, though, do check with the Neely's before crossing their fields. | |

Dates in Red are not inscribed on the tombstone and have either been calculated based on death date or are as a result of research on the individual. From Putnam County Cemetery Inscriptions: This cemetery is "located about 2 miles south of Winfield on Little Hurricane Creek. It is situated approximately half way up the hill south of the juncture of Harmon Branch Road, Sec. Rt. 29/4, and Sec. Rt. 29. Where Rt. 29 crosses Little Hurricane Creek, go left of an unoccupied mobile home. The cemetery is in woodland -- acres of myrtle mark the spot -- and is totally unattended. Over half the monuments are down and scattered. There are 20-25 graves not identifiable". A WVCPA volunteer visited this cemetery in April 2004 and indicated that conditions of the cemetery had apparently not improved since Ruth & Bill Ellis last read the cemetery in July 1987. He will get back to the cemetery when he can and get photos to us to post on this page. |
