Located
on the Jeffries home place, out Fisher Ridge in Union District of
Putnam County. The cemetery is out across a field (easily
identified by a high bald mound/hill right in the middle of the
field). A
short walk along the edge of the field, but on fairly level terrain.
Park at the farm house (Norma & Harley's place) out by the road and best to ask permission
before crossing their field.

Burials:
Goldy
Girl and

The
late Anna King Jeffries, (she and her husband Lloyd, both buried
here, were the former owners of the Jeffries farm where this
cemetery is located), was a great lover of her dogs, and these two
were among her favorites. The family knew that Anna would love
knowing that these two faithful pets had places of honor for their
burials, and laid them to rest here at the edge of the family
cemetery when they passed on after their dear mistress. Anna
& Lloyd's daughters Norma & Amy and their husbands now care
for this cemetery, and when we visited here in June 2004 and found
no one at home, their happy, the Casto's well-loved beagles welcomed
us with their gleeful barks and wagging tails!

Comments:
Much of the information for this cemetery has been
provided by our dear friend and close cousin, Reta Harrison, Jeffries family
researcher and descendant of Daniel & Margaret Jeffries. Her many years of
family research, and that of her compatriot in research Elouise Harrison
(another of our Harrison cousins) have been a constant inspiration and support
to Joel and I in our own research and cemetery preservation work. Their
combined knowledge of local history and family ties is incomparable, and we
love them both dearly. Thank you Tillie & Elouise!
A plot map of this cemetery is in progress,
hence the plot map reference numbers above. For the curious, the numbers
next to each other in sequence are more or less burials alongside each other.
You can view the map in progress by clicking on the thumbnail image below.
North/South orientation is approximate. The Fisher Ridge road is located
to the East of the cemetery. Confirmation of position of all burials
anticipated late fall/early winter 2004, after we have again visited this
cemetery.
